Bruce David Egbert, age 68, died unexpectedly at his home in Holly Springs, NC on March 14th, 2018. He lived in Harrison, NJ for 27 years and in Kearny, NJ for 25 before retiring to North Carolina in 2007. Bruce is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra, his daughter and son in-law, Kristin and Robert Majka, and his granddaughters, Allison and Ryann Majka. Brother of James Egbert and wife Sandra, Carol Kielbus and husband Robert, he is predeceased by his parents James and Lily Egbert, and his sisters and their husbands, Joan and William Lowery, Lorraine and Charles Maguire, Marilyn and Richard Leister, and Dorothy and Leslie Murray, and his sister Claire. He was the uncle of many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bruce proudly served as a member of the United States Navy from 1967-1969, and was police officer with the Harrison Police Department for 26 years before retiring in 1998.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday, March 22-23rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with a Memorial Service being celebrated at 8 PM on Friday at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr, Kearny, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
