Barbara Mae Zappulla (née Delamater), 72, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Glen Ridge, NJ, died suddenly on 11/14/13.
Visiting will be at The Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Monday, Nov. 18th, 7-9pm and Tuesday, Nov. 19th, from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated on Wednesday, Nov. 20th at 11am at Sacred Heart Church, 76 Broad St., Bloomfield. Entombment at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Mrs. Zappulla was born in Newark and lived most of her life in Glen Ridge before moving with her husband to Orlando 14 years ago. She worked at PNC Bank (formerly Midlantic Bank) for 21 years, retiring 15 years ago. She started the lunch program at Linden Avenue School, Glen Ridge and volunteered at the Linden Avenue School Library.
She is the beloved wife of 52 years of Lawrence Zappulla. Loving and caring mother of Mary Lynn Hayes (Lee), Joseph, Linda, and Lawrence Zappulla, Jr. Proud grandmother of Jesse Lee and Trevor Lee Hayes and Sophie Mae Zappulla. Compassionate sister of Joan Woody (the late Tom), Carol Heerwagen (Bill), and Linda Weiss (Tim.) And cherished aunt of Roseann, Anthony, William, Jr., Susan, Jennifer, Timothy, Katelyn, and Patrick.
Barbara loved many things in life, but nothing more than her family. Her smile, laugh, and warmth will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Her family asks that all who knew her simply carry on a piece of her love with them in the days, months, and years ahead. She wants you all to be happy.
