Jean C. Syme (nee Bowie) died June 9, 2013 in The Maywood Health Care Center. She was 96. Visiting will be on Wednesday from 4 until 8 pm at the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive Kearny. Service will be on Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home.
Jean was born in Scotland and lived most of her life in Kearny, before moving to Maywood. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1988, her daughter Elizabeth Mumm in 2001 and her son in law Jack Mumm in 1986.
Beloved mother of Hugh Syme (Susan) of Saddle Brook and George Syme (Michele) of Nutley. Loving grandmother of Douglas Syme (Joley), Christine Pecoraro (Larry), Heather Drexler (Paul), Bethany Mikolajczyk (James), Richard Mumm and Elizabeth Jean Mumm. Cherished great-grandmother of Isabella Mumm, James and Nicholas Pecoraro, Emily and Katherine Drexler, Mackenzie Syme and Quincy Mikolajczyk. Also survived by her brother Hugh Bowie (Ruth) of Florida. Jean was active for over sixty years at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Kearny and was a member at The Benstead Senior Center.
