MACCHIA, Nicholas C., 90 of Kearny, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 7th at his residence. Nick worked for Western Electric in Kearny before retiring. Nick was also a barber by trade known as “Nick the Barber”. He was a Beloved husband to Helen (nee: Werrell), a loving father to Robert, Nicholas and his wife Diane, Madeline Delli Santi and her husband George, and to Thomas and his wife Michele. A cherished grandfather to Nicholas, Helena, Joseph and Thomas. A dear brother to Anthony Macchia and his wife llse, his sisters in law, Marie Macchia and Sophie Macchia. Also survived by many other in laws and nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his parents Arsenio and Madeline (nee: Flora) and his siblings Joseph, George, Marie Macchia and Virginia Kollar.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 10th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Wilfred Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A mass will be offered on Wednesday October 11th at 10:30am at St. Stephen’s Church, 141 Washington St., Kearny. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington. Family and friends are welcomed to the funeral home beginning at 9:30am prior to mass. In lieu of flowers donations in Nick’s memory may be made to the St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
