Adalgisa Antonia Colón Flaquer

Adalgisa Antonia Colón Flaquer, 88 of Fort Lee passed away on December 28, 2019. Visiting will be at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Friday January 3, 2020 from 4-8 pm. Mass will be on Saturday at 10am in Holy Cross Church in Harrison and burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Born in Laromana, Dominican Republic, Antonia attended college to become an architect. She worked in the field for several years before becoming a school teacher. In 1960, she moved with her family to the United States, settling in Philadelphia where she worked as a drafter. She later moved to Jersey City and finally Fort Lee several years ago. A talented artist, Antonia loved to paint. An inspired artist of silk flowers, she was an avid reader, always stayed up on political science, and enjoyed doing arts and crafts. Above all, Antonia loved spending time with her family.

Antonia was the loving mother of Andres Colón and his wife Rosemarie, Enrique Colón and his wife Regina, and Aimée Colón and her partner Lourdes Ruiz. She was the devoted sister of Zaira Enemencia Flaquer and Virginia Flaquer, dear grandmother of Tristan Antonio-Colón, Enrique Colón, Patricia Flores, Joshua Colón and Nicholas Sabatier, and great-grandmother of Gabriel Flores.

Floral tributes would be appreciated by the family, or if preferred donations in her memory may be made to Holy Cross Church in Harrison.
