Matthew J Cattafi, better known as “Superman”, passed away at home on June 23, 2019. He was 48 . Born in Morristown he was raised in Kearny and had lived in Rutherford before moving to Livingston six years ago. Private arrangements are by the Armitage Wiggins funeral home in Kearny
Matthew battled cancer for 28 years with a cell type that usually claims a life in five years. He fought through the pain and never once complained. He had been an avid bodybuilder who had won the Metropolitan Bodybuilding Championship, and always advocated a healthy lifestyle. Matthew was a loving husband of 23 years, and amazing father, son and brother. Known for his superhuman strength, Matthew never passed up an opportunity to help anyone who asked.
Matthew held the position of Chief Radiation Therapist at UMDNJ in Newark for the past 25 years. Son of Judith (née Melnick ) and the late Joseph Cattafi. He was the loving husband of Gayle (new Heraut) Cattafi and beloved father of Emma and Jack Cattafi
He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses; Paul and Agnieszka Cattafi and Bethany and Chris Queiruga
He was a kind, generous friend and an inspiration to all. He leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him well.
