Jose Brandao, 47 passed away on June 6, 2019.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation is on Monday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, Jose grew up in the Ironbound Section of Newark, and was a longtime resident there before moving to Roxbury, and finally to Houston, TX with family. A graduate of East Side High School, Jose worked at Coutinhos Bakery during those years, and was later an extruder operator for Colonial Wire and also Saint Gobain. Jose enjoyed participating as the groom in “Roca-o-Norte”, a local folklore group; and especially treasured the time he spent with his loving nieces.
Jose was the dear son of the late Jose and Maria Brandao. He was the loving brother of Rui Brandao, Paul Brandao and Suzanna Brandao-Oliviera. He is also survived by his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Truly a great man, Jose’s kindness, generosity, love and friendship will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
