MACCHIA, Helen (nee:Werrell), 90, of Kearny, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 4th at her residence. Helen worked at Wells Fargo Bank before retiring. She was a beloved wife to the Nicholas C., a loving mother to Robert, Nicholas and his wife Diane, Madeline Delli Santi and her husband George and to Thomas and his wife Michele. A cherished grandmother to Nicholas, Helena, Joseph and Thomas. A dear sister to Ethel Pallante, Trudy Bruzzio and Larry Werrell and his wife Delores. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Helen was predeceased by her parents Gustave and Gertrude (nee:Levak), her siblings Jack, Gus, Albert, Andrew, Paul, Fred, Edward, Patrick, Martha, Muriel, Marie, and John. Helen was a strong but gentle woman, with a generous heart. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 9th from 3:00 to 8:00pm at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday July 10th at 10:00am at St. Stephen’s Church, 676 Kearny Avenue, Kearny, NJ. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Family and friends are welcomed at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 9:00am, prior to mass. In lieu of flowers donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
