Frank W. Polo, Sr.

Francis W. Polo, Sr. (Frank) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 7, 2020 in his son Frank’s home in Toms River.  He was 92 years old.

Visiting will be Friday, January 10, 2020 from 4 to 8 pm at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home.  His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by entombment in the Holy Cross Mausoleum. If you care to come to the funeral home prior to the Mass please arrive at 9:00 a.m.

Frank was a lifelong resident of Kearny, NJ.  He was the loving husband of 66 years of the late Dolores C. Polo (nee Galladay).  He is survived by his cherished children, Sharon Polo, Frank Polo, Jr. and Marianne Rutzler, his loving grandson, Eugene Rutzler, his most precious great grandchildren, Tara Cheyenne, “CJ” (Christopher Michael, Jr.), Jakob George and Rowan Leigh Rutzler.  He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Mary Lou) and his sister, Mary Polo.  Frank has many loving nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Deborah Anne Fergie, his beloved grandson, Christopher Michael Rutzler, Sr., his loving son-in-laws, Jack Fergie and Gene Rutzler, his parents, Charles and Stella Polo, his sister Anne Torella and his brothers, Charles and John Polo.

Frank was a Seabee in the United States Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii at the end of World War II.  After being discharged from the Navy he worked for Harrison Supply Company then Frank was a bus driver for 52 years.  He worked for Public Service (New Jersey Transit) and then DeCamp Bus Lines until his retirement in 2003.  During his time as a bus driver he drove all across the United States and Canada. He was a member of the VFW Post 1302, American Legion Post 1000 and the Marconi Fraternal Association. Frank was an excellent chef who took great pleasure in preparing fantastic meals (traditional Italian Sunday dinners) for his family.
