William J. Spanton

William J. Spanton passed away in his home on Saturday, April 25, 2020. He was surrounded by his immediate family when he passed.

He is survived by his wife Carole and his son William, his daughter-in-law Michelle, his three grandchildren, Julie, Billy and Breanna, his sister Eileen and her husband Frank, nephews Donnie and Ryan and niece Kelly. Also survived by friend/family member James Thompson, wife Heather and their son Anthony. Predeceased by brother James and close friend Anthony Evaristo.

He was born on 11/24/1946 in Hoboken, NJ.

Lived in West New York, graduated from Memorial High School . In 1963, as a junior in high school, he held the Hudson County High School baseball batting title. He served in the US Army from 1966 - 1968.

He moved, along with his wife and son to Kearny in 1973. There he coached little league baseball at the southern division for 25 years. He also coached KURC football. He was an avid NY Mets and NY Giants fan. He loved his horses and along with his brother Jimmy, owned and raced several of them at the Meadowlands, Freehold, Yonkers, amongst many others.

He retired in 2011 and moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to his family.

He was a husband, father, pop-pop, uncle and friend to many and a devout Catholic.
