David Domínguez, Obituary
David Domínguez Otaño, a long-time resident of Harrison, New Jersey, passed away on December 9, 2020 at the age of 89. He was born in Perico Matanzas, Cuba.
David exuded the best qualities of his generation, devoted to family, loving husband, father, and grandfather, hardworking, with a kind and generous heart, always available to help others. Although David’s life took unexpected turns, he met each challenge head-on and navigated through life as a steady harbor for his loved ones.
From his marriage of 47 years and until her death in 2007 to Olga Dominguez, he is survived by two daughters Nelsy Domínguez and Regina Colón and three grandchildren Nicholas, Tristan and Dariah, son-in-law Enrique and daughter-in-law Andrea. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Luz Carmen and the children of Luz Carmen, Carlos, Santiago, Patricia, Diego and her grandchildren. As the eldest son of Joseph and Maria Dominguez (both deceased), he is survived by his six sisters and brothers, Marita, Silvano, Irene, Rolando, Clotilde 'Beba', and Rosario 'Tati' and their children and grandchildren.
David shared his talents with many he touched throughout his life in Cuba, Spain, and the U.S. He was a baseball enthusiast and gifted pitcher playing in minor leagues baseball clubs both in Cuba and Spain. He enjoyed playing Cuban Danzón music and dominos, fixing small electronics or being up on ladders patching a roof, painting, repairing a pipe, or focusing on a project such as adding a porch to the back of his home. He perfected a Cuban-style Thanksgiving turkey that is hard to duplicate (though he readily shared his recipe).
David retired from River Terminal Development Corporation where he worked for over 25 years and was a member of the Local Union 734. He had a long affiliation with the Cuban subsidiary of the Masons Fraternity and was a Board member of the Pro Cuba Association, both of Elizabeth, New Jersey.
While we mourn and miss him, we are comforted by knowing that his spirit has now transcended beyond us to bask in pure love and a higher good.

David Domínguez Otaño, residente desde hace mucho tiempo de Harrison, Nueva Jersey, falleció el 9 de diciembre de 2020 a la edad de 89 años. Nació en Perico Matanzas, Cuba.
David exudaba las mejores cualidades de su generación, dedicado a la familia, esposo, padre, y abuelo atento y cariñoso, laborioso, con un corazón amable y generoso, siempre disponible para ayudar a los demás. Aunque la vida tomó giros inesperados, David se enfrentó a cada desafío de frente y navegó a través de la vida como un puerto constante para sus seres queridos.
De su matrimonio de 47 años hasta su muerte en 2007, con Olga Domínguez le sobrevive dos hijas Nelsy Domínguez y Regina Colón y tres nietos Nicholas, Tristan y Dariah, yerno y nuera Enrique y Andrea. Le sobrevive su esposa de 11 años, Luz Carmen y los hijos de Luz Carmen, Carlos, Santiago, Patricia, Diego y los nietos de Luz Carmen. Como hijo mayor de José y María Domínguez (ambos fallecidos), le sobrevive sus seis hermanas y hermanos, Marita, Silvano, Irene, Rolando, Clotilde 'Beba', y Rosario 'Tati' y sus hijos y nietos.
David compartió su talento con muchos de los cuales tocó a lo largo de su vida en Cuba, España y Estados Unidos. Fue un entusiasta del béisbol y lanzador (pícher) jugando béisbol en ligas menores tanto en Cuba como en España. Disfrutaba de la música cubana (Danzón), el dominó, el arreglar pequeños aparatos electrónicos, o proyectos como parchear el techo, pintar, reparar tuberías, o agregar un porche a la parte trasera de su casa. Perfeccionó un pavo al estilo cubano que es difícil de duplicar (aunque compartía fácilmente su receta).
David se retiró de River Terminal Development Corporation, donde trabajó durante más de 25 años y fue miembro de la Unión Local 734. Tuvo una larga afiliación con la filial cubana de la Fraternidad Masones y fue miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Asociación Pro Cuba, ambas de Elizabeth, Nueva Jersey.
Mientras lo lloramos y lo extrañamos, nos consuela al saber que su espíritu ha trascendido más allá de nosotros para disfrutar del amor puro y de un bien superior.
