Valeria Halicki (98) passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020 in Reno, NV with her family at her side. She was born to the late John and Mary Sluzy on March 17, 1922 in Newark, NJ. Val had one sister, Lorraine, who predeceased her in 1982. Val married Edward I. Halicki in 1947 and resided in Kearny, NJ for 64 years. Ed passed away in December, 1990.
Val is survived by her loving sons, Edward and his wife Linda of Reno, NV and Mark and his wife Patti of Greenbrook, NJ. She also leaves three grandchildren, Edward Carl (E.C), Matthew and Kristen.
Val retired from the Prudential Insurance Company where she worked in the Executive Dining Room. Val and her late husband Ed enjoyed taking trips with the travel clubs they belonged to and enjoyed their weekly card club with close friends for many years. Val enjoyed crocheting, quilting with her sister-in-laws, going to Atlantic City and being part of the Kearny Seniors. She was a member of the Polish Women’s Club of Kearny. Val volunteered at West Hudson Hospital for many years.
Among Val’s favorite past times was spending time with her grandchildren and enjoying her life. She was an avid sports fan cheering on her favorite teams, the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants. Val enjoyed socializing and always had a kind word to say about everyone. She will be missed but we are thankful for all of the memories she gave us.
