Edward P. Civinskas, Jr. of Kearny passed away on September 1, 2020 in Clara Maass Hospital. He was 75. Visiting hours will be on Friday, from 2 until 6 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. His funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephens Church and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Eddie was born and raised in Fairview, NJ. After graduating from Cliffside High School, he proudly served in the US Navy. Eddie was a retired Technical Research Associate for Maxwell House Division of Kraft Food, Inc. in Hoboken. That is where he met the love of his life Anne Marie. Eddie was very involved with many forms of Parish life at St. Stephens Church. He was a Eucharistic Minister, and a Sunday/Monday collection counter, a member and former president of St. Stephens Holy Name Society, a former Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 6928 and a promoter for the West Hudson Men’s Retreat Group.
Upon retirement from Maxwell House in 2000, Eddie volunteered as a lunchtime cafeteria monitor at St. Stephen’s School. He did this through the school’s change to Mater Dei Academy, eventually moving to Queen of Peace Grammar School again serving as a monitor. He was a member of OMEGA (‘Old Men Eating Great Appetizers’), a group of graduates from Cliffside Park High School.
Eddie was an avid photographer. He served as the official volunteer photographer for St. Stephen’s Church and Lakeland Regional High School’s athletic department. He volunteered his skills taking pictures of church activities and friends and family events and celebrations.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 41 years Anne Marie (Schmidt), sister Patricia, and nieces and nephews Susan (Peter) LaNasa, Sharon (Vasu) Mohan, Stephanie (Daniel) Narbone, Paul (Brandy) Schmidt, Christopher (Lisa) Schmidt and Lisa Clarke (Dermot), Suzanne (James) Tramontana and Michele (Martin) Murphy, Mary Coluccio and Jacqueline King. He was the loving Godfather to Caitlin, Earl, Alex, James and Victoria.
