Maria H. Violante (nee Dos Santos) passed away on December 13, 2021. She was 94. Visiting will be on Sunday December 19, 2021 from 2 until 6:00 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday December 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephens Church in Kearny and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Maria enjoyed her career as a professional seamstress for many years in the fashion industry. She was born in Lisbon Portugal and lived in Kearny for many years, vacationing at the shore in Belmar. She and her late husband Francisco returned later in life to Portugal and she ultimately retired to Belmar 23 years ago. Wife of the late Francisco Violante. She was the mother of Jeannette Mac Kenzie, Frank Violante, and the late Laura Violante and step mother of Frances Violante. Sister of Victor Dos Santos and the late Carlos Dos Santos she is also survived by her grandson Kanan Roberts.
