James Owens passed away on December 01, 2021. He was 98. Born in Hoboken he lived most of his life in Weehawkin. Memorial visiting will be on Monday December 13, 2021 from 3 until 7:00 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. There will be a funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church on Ridge Road in Lyndhurst and his ashes will then be entombed at Holy Cross Mausoleum with his late wife Rita.
Jim was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the last original surviving member of the Nekoboh Rod and Gun Club in Hoboken. He loved the outdoors and traveling with his wife Rita. He was The Chief Court Clerk for The New Jersey Superior Court in Jersey City.
Beloved husband of the late Rita, he was the devoted father of James Owens (the late Joanne) and brother of the late Robert and Raymond Owens and the late Joan Sgherza. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their families. In lieu of flowers kindly consider a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
