Mary McGowan Calabrese, 97 of Kearny passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2021.
Funeral is from the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Monday April 12 at 9 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday from 1-5 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Belfast, Ireland, Mary moved to East Orange in 1951 and was a Kearny resident for the past 55 years. She worked as an accounting clerk for Bell Atlantic for many years until her retirement. Mary most treasured time spent traveling the world with her dear husband.
Mary was the beloved wife of 50 years to Armand Calabrese, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the US, Ireland, England and Canada. She was predeceased by her siblings Harry, Peter, Pat, Andrew, Joe and Ann McGowan, and Gertie O’Hare.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the National Federation of the Blind, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
