Doris Kobashigawa Sobrino, 78 of Kearny passed away on August 17, 2021.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitations for Doris at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Saturday August 21 from 3-7 PM and on Sunday August 22 from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Sunday at 6:30 PM. Cremation will be held privately.
Born in Lima, Peru, Doris developed her wonderful talent for cooking by working in her parents’ restaurant there. She moved to the Bronx in 1970 with her dear husband, and they finally settled in Kearny in 1987. Doris was a proud registered nurse for 30 years, and worked the last 20 years at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Doris enjoyed creating special embroidery for her loved ones, and was fiercely proud of her Okinawan heritage.
Doris was the beloved wife of Juan Sobrino; loving mother of Doris Parker and her husband Matthew, and Rosa Sobrino; cherished grandmother of Naomi Madelyn, and was the treasured sister of Hiromi Diaz.
