Adele F. Diana

Adele F. Diana (MacDonald), 78, of Kearny, N.J. died on August 20, 2021. Visiting will be at The Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Wednesday, August 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be officiated on Thursday, August 26 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst, N.J. Interment is at Arlington Cemetery in Kearny.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., Adele lived most of her life in Kearny. She retired from the inventory control department at Barney’s New York in 2017. She also spent many wonderful years working at Drug Fair in Kearny, where she made many lifelong friends. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She never missed a special occasion, sending a card or a note, and was an avid letter writer. She had many good times at Michael’s Riverside in Lyndhurst, especially hanging out with the Tuesday and Friday night crew. She’ll be remembered for her words of wisdom and advice, her no-nonsense approach to life, and her cheesecake.  

Adele was predeceased by her husband, Angelo, in 2015 and her son Robert in 1995. She is survived by her daughter Adele Mackin (Joe) and son Angelo (Mary Ellen), son Robert Smullen (Diane) and daughter-in-law Linda Scorsone (Charlie). She was a loving grandmother to Angelo Diana (Jennifer), Noelle Hunter (Matthew), Kara and Janie Mackin, Madison Smullen, and Charlie, Matthew and Allison Scorsone. She welcomed her first great-grandchild, Ava Rose Diana, in March 2021. She was also loved by her nieces and nephews. 

Adele is also survived by her brother, Alexander MacDonald and was predeceased by her parents, George and Adele MacDonald, and two brothers, George and Louis. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated. And if you smoke or use tobacco products, the family requests that you do your best to quit.
