Kelvin Ray Roberts was born to the late Kelvin Roberts, Sr. and the late Susan Ray Downs Roberts on September 7th, 1955, in New Bern, N. C. Kelvin received his invitation to eternal life on Sunday April 3, 2022. Visiting will be on Saturday April 9, 2022 from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Homme 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. His burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside.
During Kelvin’s early years, he was educated in the Craven County N. C. School System. He enjoyed basketball and cheering on his Pittsburg Steelers but, most of all his favorite past time was playing Chess. He never missed an opportunity to play an opponent in a game of chess, taking on any and all challengers.
During this time, both of his parents remarried, Kelvin, Sr. to Ms. Dorothy Oliver and Susan to Mr. Thomas Alston and in 1972 Kelvin chose to join the U. S. Marine Corp. Upon his discharge from the Marines in 1975, Kelvin moved to New Jersey to be with his Father and there, he accepted a position with the Alliance Chemical Company of Newark.
As the years progressed Kelvin met and married Ms. Patricia Hagler. Pat contributed four children to the marriage and later preceded Kelvin in death. Ms. Patricia Hagler-Roberts received her invitation to eternal life on November 17, 2012.
In Kelvin’s latter years, he often was able to depend and rely upon his beloved Sister-in-Law, Ms. Lorraine Allen as he went about his day-to-day routine and with whom he would share many good times and holidays over many years with their family.
Several family members preceded Kelvin in death, two Daughters Cheryl Williams and Stephanie Hagler and his Brother Stanley Jarvis Downs. Kelvin leaves many to cherish his memory, Daughter Margie Hagler and Son Mustamir Hagler, Sisters Denise Oliver (Raymond), Doris Hamlin (Raymond), Linda Willis (Al), Cleo A. Hill, Vivian Cook (Corney), Sister-in-Law Lorraine Allen (Ernest), Brothers Richard Roberts (Jackie), Milton Roberts, Jessie Oliver (Brenda), Jerry Oliver (Carla), Thomas Alston, Jr. (Deborah) and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
