Stephanie Gelcius (nee Kacaper), 94 of Brick, formerly of Kearny passed away on May 20, 2022.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Stephanie at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kearny on Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment will be held privately.
Born in Newark, Stephanie was a longtime Kearny resident before moving to Brick 18 years ago. She worked in the lab at Schering-Plough many years ago, before becoming a dedicated home maker. Stephanie was very active in organizations she was passionate about. She was a former Girl Scout Troop leader, and was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary Society. She spent many years belonging to the Parent Teacher Guild in Kearny, serving as its President and Vice-President. Stephanie enjoyed playing dice and card games with her grandchildren. She was a great cook, and her family always looked forward to her amazing stuffed cabbage. Stephanie treasured time spent relaxing with a glass of wine, catching up with her dear family and friends.
Stephanie was the beloved wife of the late Vincent Gelcius; loving mother of Karen Grifo and her husband Brian, David Gelcius, Paul Gelcius and his wife Margaret, and the late Donna Martone; proud grandmother of Stephanie Hart and her husband Michael, Jason Grifo, Lisa Marakovitz and her husband Robert, Kathryn Martone, Harry Martone, Jonathan Gelcius, Robert Gelcius, Grace Gelcius and Meghan Gelcius; and adoring great-grandmother of Abigail Hart. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Red Cross, to help those in the Ukraine.
