Barbara A. GREENE, of Kearny passed away on October 4, 2023, with her four sons by her side. Born and raised in the Greenville Section of Jersey City, she moved to Kearny in 1968. Beloved mother of Michael Greene, Thomas Greene, Charles Greene and Christopher Greene. Loving grandmother of Michael Greene, Jr. and Joseph Greene. Dear sister of Michael Scolamieri. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Michael (1976) and Rose (1972) Scolamieri, her Husband Charles Greene (1983), and her brother Robert J. Scolamieri (2013).
In her earlier years, Barbara began working for Ballantine & Sons Brewing Company, Newark in the Media Relations Department. She received her BA in Speech & Hearing (1987) & MA in Speech Pathology (1991) from Kean University, Elizabeth. She then focused on her career and became a Speech Pathologist for the Essex County Educational Services Commission, Cedar Grove from 1989 till the day she retired in 2007. In her spare time, Barbara was an avid reader, tennis player, cook and collector of recipes. She also belonged to a cycling club based in Northern New Jersey.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Monday, October 9th, from 4-8pm in the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny.
A 9:30am funeral service from the funeral home will be on Tuesday, October 10th followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace RCC, N. Arlington.
Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, N. Arlington
