Susan Theresa Sant'Ana

Susan Theresa Sant’Ana, a resident of Kearny, New Jersey before moving to Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 24, 2023 at Penn University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sue was 56. Sue held a long term position as a Hudson County Probation Officer and a Supervisor before retiring in 2021.

Sue lived her life to its fullest, whether it be attending concerts, gambling at casinos, swimming with dolphins, wine tasting, vacationing in the Caribbean, or visiting with friends and family. Sue was an advocate for The Bayonne Feral Cat Foundation of Bayonne, New Jersey, a connection she established when she rescued five near death newborn kittens and bottle fed them, all while home recovering from a broken foot. Two kittens passed early on and Sue continued to care for the other three kittens (a/k/a “The Terror Triplets”) who eventually passed due to feline leukemia. Sue then rescued another set of three kittens who are presently alive and well. Sue then began arranging and hosting on-line tricky tray fundraisers to raise money for the Foundation. If you attended these fundraisers, you appreciate the term “whisk”.

Sue was kind, generous, compassionate and had a great sense of humor and loved to celebrate Halloween. She was always willing to help, listen and put the needs of others before her own.

Sue’s passing leaves a profound void, but she will be reunited in heaven with her daughter, Stacy Sant’Ana, who passed in 2016 after four heart transplants, and with her mother, Mary Paiva. Sue is survived by her son, Steven Tyler Sant’Ana, her father, Richard Paiva, her ex-husband, Julian Sant’Ana and her close friends.

Cremation services were private. Memorial visitation will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. Prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to The Bayonne Feral Cat Foundation in Sue’s memory. https://www.bayonne-feral-cat-foundation.org/donate
