Brigitte R. Jankiewicz, 84 of Kearny passed away on March 21, 2023 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Edison.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Brigitte at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Sunday March 26 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kearny on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Marienburg, Germany on September 16, 1938, Brigitte lived in Harrison until moving to Kearny in 1970. She met her beloved husband, the late Zenon in Germany in 1954 while traveling on a train. They married in 1955, immigrated to the United States in 1957 and enjoyed 62 beautiful years together. Brigitte enjoyed going on cruises with Zenon, dancing and above all cherished time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Brigitte was the beloved wife of the late Zenon Jankiewicz; loving mother of Michael Jankiewicz, Dorothy Cole (James), Linda Sherry (Robert), Mark Jankiewicz (Cynthia) and the late Rita Bowman and Glenn Jankiewicz. She was the treasured Oma of Glenn, Brandon, Melissa, Kristyn, Jennifer, Robert, Amanda, Alexander and the late Kristopher. She was the adoring great-grandmother of seven, and was the dear sister of Rita Weber and the late Rosemarie Richter of Germany. She is also survived by her Sister-in-Law Irene Oeckel and her Godson Paul Oeckel, and many nieces and nephews.
