Rocco Martirano passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on August 7, 2023. He was 82 years of age. Visiting will be on Thursday August 10, 2023 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny. Relatives and friends are invited to return to the funeral home on Friday by 9:00 a.m. or directly attend the Mass at St. Stephens Church in Kearny at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Born in Spilinga, Calabria Italy on December 3, 1940, Rocco immigrated to The United States in 1958 and married his beloved wife Rosa (nee Campesi) in 1959. They settled in Kearny. He is the cherished father of Josephine Mazzeo (her husband Antonio), Caterina Martirano and Rocco A. Martirano. Brother of Michael Martirano, Rosa Dotro, Antonio Martirano and the late Frank and Jack Martirano. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren; Rosa-Marie Solomon and Frank Mazzeo along with his great grandchildren; Frank, Jason, Madeleine and Colette.
Rocco was over a 50 year member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union 1342. In addition to his career he was a talented private home builder. He cherished his family and loved the Jersey Shore, playing cards and enjoying a great glass of wine. He will be truly missed.
