Charles J. Reitemeyer

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Charles at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday December 17 from 4-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Church on Wednesday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Charles “Charlie” Reitemeyer, 71, of Kearny, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS. Surrounded by his family, Charlie left this world the same way he lived his life—embraced by love.

Known affectionately as “Carl” by his siblings, Charlie was a patient, kind-hearted, and generous soul with a quick wit and a wealth of stories to share. His passion for music, unwavering loyalty as a Green Bay Packers fan, and the warmth and care he shared with everyone around him will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Charlie moved to Kearny at the age of five and resided in the same home for nearly 60 years, where he raised his own family. In his retirement, he found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, creating cherished memories they will carry forever.

Charlie is survived by his devoted wife of more than 40 years, Norma; his children, Charles Reitemeyer and his wife Ashley, Katherine Alfaro and her husband Miguel, and Patrick Reitemeyer. He was the beloved “Papa” to seven grandchildren—Avery, Emily, Isabella, Lilliana, Gabriella, Lukas, and Violet—who adored him beyond measure. He is also survived by his siblings Tom Reitemeyer, Grace Murray, Paul Reitemeyer, Damian Reitemeyer and his wife Leslie, and Mary Manzo and her husband Robert. He will be greatly missed by his in laws, Carmen, Jorge & Antonieta, Victor & Iliana, Mario & Hildalisa, Fausto & Cynthia, and Marcelo along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the ALS United - Greater New York, https.//als-ny.org/, in Charlie’s memory in the hopes that there will one day be a cure
