Sem “Sam” Della Fera, 94 of North Arlington passed away on February 3, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Sam at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Friday February 9th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy’s Church on Saturday in Newark at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Born in Calabritto, Italy, Sam immigrated to the United States in 1951. He lived in Kearny for 25 years before moving to North Arlington in 1991. Sam proudly served in the US Army, and later worked for Worthington Pump in Harrison as a machinist from 1951 to 1994, and for the United States Postal Service in Newark for 20 years until his retirement. Sam was a hardworking man, who was fiercely devoted to his family. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Sam was the beloved husband of 57 years to Virginia (nee Santorelli) Della Fera, loving father of Sam Della Fera, Jr. and his wife Sheryl and David Della Fera and his wife Alexandra; cherished grandfather of Stephen Della Fera, Samantha Della Fera, Andrew Della Fera and Max Della Fera. He weas predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Vincent, Carmela, Mario, Italo and Filomena.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the North Arlington Volunteer Emergency Squad, 575 Schuyler Ave. North Arlington, NJ 07031.
