As a child she loved to sing, dance and spend time with her family and friends. She graduated from Belleville High School in 1947 and, a few years later, went on a double date with her friend, Vivian where she met the love of her life, H. Clayton Guth. They were married on April 7, 1951, and they settled in Bloomfield, NJ where they happily raised their family.
During her Bloomfield years Audrey was whirlwind of activity! She was deeply involved in the life of the Brookdale Reformed Church where she sang in the choir, served as a Deacon and an Elder, and taught Sunday School. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years and helped form a Couple’s Club group that held monthly activities and traveled together for more than 25 years! At the same time she worked in retail sales clothing at Hahne’s in Montclair where her eye for fashion made her invaluable in the men’s department. She ended her working years at the Brookdale Savings Bank.
In retirement Audrey and Clay moved to their long-time summer home in Lake Tamarack, NJ, where they enjoyed the many lake activities with their friends and family. They also cherished the time they spent traveling and dining with their many friends and they became members of the Clover Hill Reformed Church.
In 1999, a few years after her husband’s death, Audrey moved to the Greenbriar Woodlands Active Adult Community in Toms River where she was an enthusiastic participant in the bocce ball league. The next chapter of Audrey’s life began in 2010 when she moved to Lake Tranquility in Andover, NJ, where she enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends until she moved to the Merry Heart Health Care Center where she enjoyed the daily songs and games in the activity room.
Audrey was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was never happier than when spending time with her family and friends. Whether she was making special Christmas gifts with her granddaughters, baking with her children and grandchildren, going on vacation with the Couples Club, or reveling in the joy of her Great Grandchildren, as long as she was spending time with those she loved she was happy. She loved the beach, a good book, phone calls from her grandchildren, and always singing. We all remember the lullabies as she tucked us in.
A private funeral service and burial will be held by the family.
