Fortunata Calderon 67, of East Newark died at her home on July 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Visiting will be at The Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive Kearny on Tuesday 4-8PM. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Azevedo from The Geracao Eleita (Chosen Generation) Church on Wednesday at 10AM at the funeral home. Interment Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
Born in Yungay, Peru, Fortunata came to The United States in 1995 settling in Harrison. She was a member of The East Newark Senior Citizens Club.
She is the beloved wife of the late Wilfredo Lugardo. Dear mother of Karen Chavez, Rosa Vicente, Sandra Balbi and Raul Flores. Sister of Raquel, Miguel and Eduardo Calderon, Constantina Garcia and the late Gladys and Jesus Calderon. Grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
