Thomas J. Foley

Thomas John Foley, lovingly known as Tom to friends and Tommy to those closest to him, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026 at the age of 68, surrounded by family and friends after a long and unwavering battle with pancreatic cancer. Visiting will be on Tuesday February 10 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny. Mass will be the same morning at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephens Church and private cremation will follow.

Tom was the devoted husband of Laura Ann, to whom he was married 38 years, and was a proud, loving father to Matthew Walter Foley (Liz) and William Thomas Foley. He was especially cherished in his role as Grandpa to his beloved granddaughter Charlotte Frances. Don’t tell the others, but Charly was his favorite.

Born to Walter and Frances Foley, both predeceased, Tom grew up in West New York in a lively household full of love, chaos, and lasting memories. He was the baby brother to Grace, Carol, and Debra. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and some of the best friends anyone could ask for.

Tom dedicated 33 years of service as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, a career he took pride in and one that reflected his steady, dependable nature. A man of simple joys, Tom loved horse racing, long days at the beach, and gardening- with a special talent for growing tomatoes that became the heart of his famous homemade sauce. Sunday mornings were sacred to him: The Beatles playing softly, a cup of coffee in hand, and the quiet comfort of routine.

A faithful Catholic, Tom lived his life with humility, kindness, and quiet devotion to his family. He was, at his core, the best man- steady, loving, and deeply present for the people he cared about.
