Edward T. McGorman, 76, passed away on August 6, 2026. Arrangements are by Armitage Wiggins Funeral.
He is survived by his sister Wanda Maltese of Hamilton, NJ and his brother Robert McGorman (Elleen) of Richburg, SC. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kirsten McGorman-Knight, Keith McGorman, Colleen McGorman (deceased) of South Carolina and Melissa Arcaro of Allentown, NJ and 3 great nephews and 1 great niece.
Ed McGorman went to join his heavenly father on August 6, 2026, one day short of his 77th birthday. He was a lifelong resident of North Arlington, where he joined the Fire Department at 21. He served the FD over 40 years, becoming Chief in 1999. During his years as a firefighter, he was a life member of the Exempt Association., NJ State Exempt Fire Association., Bergen-Passaic Exempt Association, NY-NJ Fireman’s Association., South Bergen Fire Chiefs Association, Fire Inspector and member and President of Bergen County Fireman’s Home Association.
He was employed by Bergen County Police, where he worked for 30 years, becoming supervisor of mechanics. He was a Crossing Guard for North Arlington for 10 years and a member of the Elks Lodge #1992.
Ed loved North Arlington! He would not leave even when he became ill. The Hendel Avenue Firehouse became the River Road Firehouse and Ed was devoted to it.
This being said, the Celebration of his Life will be held at Hose Co #1 on October 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to NAFD, Hose Co #1.
