Joanna Belbey

Joanna Belbey, 61 of Jersey City, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2018. Ms. Belbey is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Rathburn, her cockatiel Angel and family and friends. Visitation will be at Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Saturday, December 15 at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated at 11:00 am at St. Stephen's Church, Kearny. Ms. Belbey is the daughter of the late Barbara Gordy Belbey and the late Joseph E. Belbey. Cremation will be private, and Ms. Belbey will be buried with the family in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ. 

Ms. Belbey was most recently employed as a Compliance Subject Matter Expert at Hearsay Systems in New York. Prior to that, she worked for Proofpoint, Actiance, FINRA, ran her own training firm for several years, and spent 15 years advising C-Level executives on marketing and digital strategies. An enthusiastic user of social media, Ms. Belbey spoke at various industry conferences, was a Forbes, TechCrunch and Compliance Insights contributor and has been quoted in various industry publications. 

A graduate of Georgetown University and a world-traveler, Ms. Belbey had a passion for films and film making. She earned a certificate in video and film production from New York University and spent her free time writing, directing and producing indie films including "Avocado Toast,” "India: A Tourist's View," "The Threat of Cybercrime," and the award winning docu-series, "New York Passport.”
