Marty W. Vena passed away unexpectedly at home on June 14, 2026, at the young age of 53.
Born in Jersey City to his loving parents, Robert and Barbara (née Hanvey) Vena, Marty was a cherished son who will be deeply missed. He spent many years in Bloomfield before recently moving to Belleville.
Marty was married to his soul mate, best friend and loving wife, Amy. Together they raised two sons, Tyler (Lisa) and Justin (Morgan), who were the pride and joy of his life. He was also blessed to know and love his beloved granddaughters, Samantha and Hailey, who brought him immense happiness.
Marty was a kind-hearted and loving man whose warmth and compassion touched everyone he met. He had a special gift for making people feel welcomed, accepted, and loved. Known for his sense of humor and larger-than-life personality, Marty brought laughter and joy wherever he went and was often the life of the party. He shared a close bond with his best friend, Dave, and held his friendships close throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate to know him.
Marty loved the New York Yankees and could rarely be seen without his Yankees hat. He found joy in life’s simple moments, whether enjoying a chat in the yard with his friends, at the beach with his family or enjoying a night out in Atlantic City (most likely at the craps table), he truly made the most of every moment.
A dedicated Union Roofer, Marty was a proud member of Local 8 in Long Island City, New York, and took great pride in his work and the friendships he built throughout his career.
In addition to his parents, wife, sons, and granddaughters, Marty is survived by his loving siblings, Robert, Tara, and Jeff Vena, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, June 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, Bloomfield with interment to follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marty’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
