James A. McAlister died May 11, 2014 in The Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. He was 84. born in Newark he lived in Kearny and Bloomfield before moving to Oakland thirty five years ago. Visiting will be on Wednesday from 3 until 7 pm at the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. Mass Thursday at 10 am in St. Cecilias Church and entombment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
Jim is a retired steel worker from Driver Harris in Harrison. He is a member of Local 1724 and served in theArmy from 1951 until 1953.
Husband of the late Barbara (nee Hickey) he is survived by his daughter Mary Beth Stackowitz, brothers and sister, Daniel and Edward McAlister and Dorothy Dare. Also surviving are his grandchildren Christopher and Kevin.
