Helen T. Kurszwicz

Born in East Newark, N.J. to Helen (Bevins) Swarbrick & John Swarbrick on July 24, 1919 a resident of Kearny for over 95 years.
She peacefully passed away to join her beloved husband, John J. Kurszwicz, June 26, 1918 - June 5, 1985 & cherished grandson, Richard Alan Polanski, Jr. October 7, 1984 – September 24, 2008 in heaven.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Joan Gerbasio & son-in-law, Bill Gerbasio, of Stanhope, N.J. & Karen Polanski & son-in-law, Richard Polanski of Piscataway N.J. Her adoring granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Polanski, also of Piscataway, & John William Buchanan & Jaime Cappiello of Kearny N.J. Helen was also blessed with a beautiful great-granddaughter, Abigail Taylor Buchanan, and a soon to be another great grand addition due in November 2015.

Helen started her secretarial career at the RCA of Harrison N.J. in 1945, where she meet one of her most best friends Mary Rover Ghirlanda, they stayed in close touch for over 60 years of friendship, and Prodilan Company of Kearny.
She stayed at home to raise her daughters until June 1975, at which time she joined the Town of Kearny Tax Collectors Office as a clerk, cashier. She eventually became the Assistant Tax Collector, & after 29 years of service, she retired in July 1, 2004 at the age of 85.

Helen was a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Parish, Kearny, but was resistant to joining any organizations after her retirement. She was a gifted seamstress, and knitter, and loved to meet with her fellow retirees Rose, Joan, Lillian, & Florence for monthly luncheons.

She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Swarbrick Milchram, Her brothers John & Joseph Swarbrick. She also is survived by nieces, Christinia Milchram Biondi, , Marylou Swarbrick Brierley, Joan Swarbrick Chabotar, Valerie Gilbert Swarbrick,& nephews Edmund Mays & Alan, John & Robert Swarbrick , & predeseased by her nephew, Paul Swarbrick.

The family would like to give a sincere thank-you to Dr. Edward Killilea for his many years care and kindness for their mother.
And her care giver Helen Shengelaia for her constant & loving care for Mrs. Helen.

Visiting will be on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive Kearny. Mass of Christian burial, Thursday, April 23rd at 11:30 am in St. Stephens Church and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. www.armitagewiggins.com
