Vincent J. Gelcius, 94 of Brick, formerly of Kearny, passed away on October 5, 2018.
Visitation will be held at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kearny on Wednesday at 11 AM. Burial is private.
Born in Kearny, Vincent was a longtime resident before moving to Brick 15 years ago. A proud veteran of the Army/Air Force during World War II, he later owned and operated Vinnie’s Sunoco in Kearny for many years. Vincent was also a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, serving as president of the Parish Council, and as a member of the Holy Name Society.
Vincent was the beloved husband of Stephanie (nee Kacaper); loving father of Karen Grifo and her husband Brian, David Gelcius, Paul Gelcius and his wife Margaret, and the late Donna Martone; dear grandfather of Stephanie Hart, Jason and Lisa Grifo, Kathryn and Harry Martone, Johnathan, Robert, Grace and Meghan Gelcius; and great-grandfather of Abigail Hart. He was predeceased by his six brothers and sisters.
