Born in Cuba, Consuelo moved to Bronx, NY, and soon after married her husband Peter L. Tufaro in 1951. The matriarch of her large family from a very young age, she and her husband brought her sisters over from Cuba, and maintained their citizenship status until they all married. Consuelo and Peter settled in Manhattan, later living in Union City before living in North Bergen for 25 years, and then Toms River for 30 years. Consuelo was the last surviving of her many siblings; imagine the greeting she got from her eleven brothers and sisters who have gone before her in heaven when she arrived! A dedicated homemaker for many years, Consuelo was also an avid bowler and bocce player. She loved to swim, and always made sure to wear her goggles and fins. She enjoyed horseback riding in her early years, and had a lifetime zest for music and dancing. She truly lived the American Dream, and was so proud to be an American.

Consuelo was the beloved wife of 68 years to Peter L. Tufaro, who kept his promise to buy her a house and surround it with roses. She was the loving mother of Diane Tufaro, and was predeceased by eleven dear brothers and sisters.
