Lewis T. Battista, of Kearny, passed away at home on September 3, 2019 He was 100 years old. Visiting will be on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. Mass Saturday 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephens Church and entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum
Mr. Battista Technical Sargent in The Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a licensed electrician and held N.J. license number 79. He worked in the family business, A. Battista and Sons Wholesale Bananas in Newark and then worked as an electrician for Myles Electric in Kearny. After his years of work with Myles he returned to The family business until he retired and became a loving full time grandfather. He is the husband of the late Betty (nee DiModungo) and father of Lewis C. Battista (Patricia) Brother of the late Rocco, Joseph and Carl he is also survived by his grandchildren; Joseph (Melissa), Kathleen and Michael along with his great grandson Joseph Thomas.
