Born in Landingville, PA, Howard lived in Linden and North Arlington before moving to Kearny 48 years ago. Howard and his wife, Pat, lived in both Kearny and North Arlington before building their single family home in Kearny.
He proudly served in the US army during the Korean War. In 1962, Howard started his trucking company, Maulfair Trucking Company, Inc. The company flourished for 30 years. He owned and operated 2 gas stations during this time as well. After retiring in 1992, Howard took some time off to help out with his granddaughter, Katie. He loved spending this time with her and Katie loved her Pop pop. Howard belonged to the North Arlington Police Reserves for over 15 years and also served as their Captain. In 2001, Howie began working at Wilson Auto Parts and remained working there until 2018.
One of Howard’s many qualities was his ability to fix many things. If it was broken, he would find a way to fix it. In his spare time, he loved visiting the casinos in Atlantic City, feeding the birds in the yard, and spending time with his faithful companion, Lady.
Howard was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Patricia (née Scollan) Maulfair. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Rich) Cicchetti, and Patricia (Manny) DaSilva, and his son, Raymond(Barbara) Maulfair. He was the dear grandfather of Katie (Matthew) Gleason and Carl Maulfair. Howard is also survived by his brother, Richard Maulfair and sister in law, Agnes Catena.
