Jorge DaSilva Ribeiro, 94 of Kearny passed away on December 29, 2021.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Jorge at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday January 4, 2022 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Church on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the youngest of 21 brothers and sisters, Jorge moved to Newark in 1963, and finally settled in Kearny in 1972. He was a longshoreman for Maher Terminals for 25 years until his retirement 30 years ago. Jorge enjoyed taking trips to the beach, and found any excuse to be out of the house, and getting something accomplished. He most loved spending time with, and providing for his loving family.
Jorge was the beloved husband of Maria Ceu (nee Pereira) Ribeiro for 58 years; cherished father of David Ribeiro and his wife Lisa, George Ribeiro, Nancy Miller and her husband Joel and Michelle Cooker; and dear grandfather of Ben, Nicole, Joshua, Courtney, Justin and Matthew. He was predeceased by 20 brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Autism Speaks, or to the American Cancer Society.
