JAMES W. MARION (Jim] age 86, was born and raised in Harrison, NJ and resided in Bloomfield, New Jersey for 49 years. Arrangements are by Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrate for Jim at 12 noon on Saturday May 1, 2021 in Holy Cross Church in Harrison. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. He was the son of the late James E Marion and Helen (Bennett) Marion. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph D. Marion (Kathy) and his sister Mary Ellen (Jack) Kelly of Spring Lake, NJ.
Jim was devoted to his family, celebrating 52 years of marriage with his wife, Annette (Battalino). He was very proud of his sons, James (Jimmy) and Peter (“Coach”) and enjoyed spending time with them. He never missed the opportunity to attend any of their baseball and basketball games from Little League to High School and College.
Jim attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and was employed by Dresser Industries (successor to Worthington Pump) in Harrison, NJ for 41 years. During his tenure, he held several positions in Finance. He was an International Auditor, traveling to many countries worldwide and he later became manager of Cost Accounting and Plant Controller.
Jim loved to read, especially outside on a sunny day. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and spent Saturdays in the Fall, “cheering for the Irish.” Growing up, Jim and his family loved the Brooklyn Dodgers, and spent many hours listening to their games on the radio on their back porch in Harrison. In the early 60’s, he became a passionate fan of the Mets and Jets.
Jim was proud to have served in the US Army from 1957-1959.
Jim also survived by eight (8) nieces and nephews--Bob, Maureen, Nancy, Patti, Ellen, Kathleen, Marty, and Margaret, and thirteen (13) great-nieces and nephews--Caroline, Matt, Kate, Nick, Ben, Jack, Nell-Ann, Conor, Gemma, Aidan, Abigail, Nora, and Charlotte.
