Maria "Dora" Fernandez, 92 of Newark passed away on July 29, 2021.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Dora at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Monday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Church in Kearny on Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Camaguey, Cuba, Dora lived in Newark since 1963. A talented cook, she most cherished time spent with her loving family.
Dora was the beloved wife of the late Fernando; loving mother of Fernando, Jr., Javier and Elena Cassill; and dear sister of Rosario Martinez. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alexa, Sean and Sofia, who were the lights of her life.
Dora was a kind and gracious woman, and will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
