Jessie M. Smillie (nee Dickson) passed away on July 31, 2021.
Jessie was born in Sorbie, a small village in Scotland. She immigrated to the USA in 1956, spending most of her life in Kearny, then moved to Netcong to be closer to her daughter in 1999.
Jessie will be remembered for her gentle nature and her wonderful Scottish baking. She was the true meaning of a lady.
Jessie worshipped her family; she leaves behind her devoted daughter Anne and son-in-law Brian. Her grandchildren Eric, Lisa and her husband Robert gave her great joy and love. Her great-grandchildren Callum, Ella, Cecilia and Lily were the apples of her eye. Jessie will be missed by all. She also had many nieces and nephews both here and in Scotland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Jessie at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Friday August 6 from 11am to 12 noon. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 12 noon, and burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington would be appreciated.
