Miriam R. Evans “Mimi”, 64, of Kearny passed away on her 32nd wedding anniversary, October 20, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Evans, devoted mother of Brian and Shannon Evans and loving cousin of Mark, Darlene, Stu, Kim, Baylee, Drake, Tema, Kraig, Ricky, Tovah, and Uncle Bernie, along with many other loving cousins. Mimi was a nurse for over 40 years, most recently as a nurse case manager for Ironbound Medical Services, Newark. Prior to that, she was a registered nurse in West Hudson Hospital in Kearny and St. James Hospital in Newark. Miriam was a lifelong Eagles fan who would sing “Fly Eagles Fly” after every touchdown. Mimi was the Irish Woman of the Year 2001 Ancient Order of Hibernians, the 4th Ward Democratic Leader in Kearny and a longtime County Committee and Board of Health member. Mimi was very involved in her community and touched many people’s lives with her warm vivacious personality that was full of life.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Monday, 3-7pm in Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny.
Funeral service from the funeral home on Tuesday, 10am.
Followed by a graveside service, 11am in Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington.
