Marina Rodriguez

Marina Rodriguez, 91 of Harrison passed away on October 7, 2022.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Marina at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday October 11 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Church on Wednesday at 11:00PM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Born in Orense, Spain, Marina moved to Venezuela in 1952 after marrying her beloved husband. In 1960, they immigrated to Newark, and Marina has lived in Harrison since 1979. She was a talented seamstress, working in Newark, East Newark and Kearny for many years.

Marina never tired of learning, and throughout her ten decades, watched many things change. She enjoyed keeping up with current technology, as it allowed her to keep in better touch with her loved ones. Marina enjoyed talking to anyone she could, and she even spoke four languages. This allowed her to make fast, lifelong friends anywhere she went. She was deeply proud of her family, and some of her happiest days were seeing her children go through college. Marina’s legacy will be her sociability with a thirst for connectivity, which impacted, and was imparted, to her loving family.

Marina was the beloved wife of the late Delmiro Rodriguez; loving mother of Antonio Rodriguez (Tracey) and Marina McEnery (James); proud grandmother of Cristina Rodriguez (Jose), Jimmy McEnery (Katelyn) and Kaitlyn McEnery; adoring great-grandmother of Natalia Cristina Rodriguez and Amaya Carmen Rodriguez. She was the dear sister of Candida Montero, Rosa Montero and the late Manuel and Jose Montero, and is also survived by her devoted caretaker Hercelia Bejarano, by her grand-pup Ralph, and by many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
