Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, Jesus moved to Florida in 1980, and later lived in Passaic, Clifton and Harrison until moving to Woodland Park. A knowledgeable diesel and gasoline engine mechanic, Jesus saved his own life and the lives of countless other refugees when their boat from Cuba to the United States began having trouble during their journey. God was good to him throughout his entire life. He was saved as a newborn baby when complications arose during his birth. Later in life, Jesus was spared through many accidents at work and several health scares. Jesus thanked God every day for the blessings that were bestowed upon him.
Jesus worked for the City of Passaic in their maintenance department for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed fixing cars and trucks, and loved to dance and play his guitar. Although stubborn at times, Jesus has a heart of gold, and was very close to his family and dear friends. A patriotic gentleman, Jesus was proud to be an American, and was forever grateful that he and his family got to live their lives in total freedom.
Above all, Jesus treasured time spent playing ball and riding bikes with his grandchildren.
Jesus was the beloved husband of 49 years to Maritza Real; loving father of Yurema Gonzalez and her husband Denis and Lisbet Real; and cherished grandfather of Liz and Lenny Gonzalez. Jesus is also survived by several loving cousins.
