Pamela A. Lyons

Pamela A. Lyons, 77, died, peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  Pam, a lifelong resident of Kearny, began her career as a switchboard operator at West Hudson Hospital. She subsequently supervised the payroll department and finished her career as a payroll advisor for St. Barnabas Hospital. Too “young” to stay home, Pam became a teachers’ aide with the Kearny Board of Education where she enriched the lives of kindergarten students at Garfield School.  Pam and Jim’s “retirement” consisted of numerous trips to watch and cheer on their grandchildren at various school and sporting events. Pam was a devoted wife, mother, and doting “Maga” (a name given to her by her first grandchild nearly 24 years ago) as “grandma” was simply too difficult to say. Pam’s spirit and smile will be missed deeply by all of us.

She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 56 years, James (“Jim”) Lyons, her daughter, Tracey O”Neill (Frank) & son James Lyons Jr. (Cathy), and by her cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Sean, Morgan, and Matthew, along with many dear nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation held at Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 pm.  All will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 9:00 am, then to St. Stephens Church, where a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.  Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum , North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Pamela’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Parkinson’s Foundation.
