Joseph A. Fernicola, 80 of Newark passed away on January 20, 2023.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Joseph at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday from 9 - 11 AM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Newark, Joseph was a lifelong resident. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Grammar School before graduating from St. Peter’s Prep, and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City. He was a longtime accountant, working for various large firms and corporations in New York City during his illustrious career. A talented accordian player, Joseph performed at Carnegie Hall. He was also an avid fisherman.
Joseph was the dear son of the late Antonio and Carmella Fernicola. He was also predeceased by his sister Rose Tretola. He is survived by his loving nieces Carol Carfagna and Carmella Sanchez (Jesus), his nephew Anthony Tretola, and by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Joe was fortunate to have received the loving care and help from his great nephew Sal.
