George Kenneth Dittman, a devoted family man and Kearny resident, passed away on September 1st, 2023, at the age of 91. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at The Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home located at 596 Belgrove Drive in Kearny, NJ. George was a lifelong resident of Kearny and the son of John and Helen Dittman. After graduating from Kearny High School, George proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. In January of 1963, he married Anne D'Arc. He was a member of Kearny’s V.F.W., American Legion, and Marine Corps League.

An ardent outdoorsman, George and his wife were active members of the New Jersey Pioneer Camping Club. When George wasn’t tending to his garden, he was collecting baseball cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Post retirement from Worthington, George worked as a Violations Officer for The Town of Kearny.

George’s proudest roles were those of a devoted husband, loving father, and proud veteran. He is predeceased by his wife, Anne. He leaves behind his daughters, Cari (Joseph) and Lori (Thomas), and sister Marilyn Bohan (Phil). His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Kathryn (Charlie), Jaclyn (Andrew), Kyle, Michael, Dylan, Logan, and Connor. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Cole and Jennifer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
