Frances E. Rainey of Kearny NJ passed away on October 31, 2025, at Hackensack University Medical Center at the age of 77. She was born in Newark NJ, to her parents Patrick and Edith Tully and lived most of her life in Kearny, NJ.
Frances was a retired Teachers Aide with the Kearny School System. She was also previously the co-owner of The Blue Bar and Jim’s Deli with her late husband Robert R. Rainey Jr. and was active in the Henrietta Benstead Senior Citizen’s Club in Kearny, NJ. Frannie, as she was known to those who loved her, lit up the world around her with her infectious laugh, profound faith and unconditional love. Her light will be carried by the many who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She is survived by her loving children, Patrick (Monique) and Laura Catalini, Audrey McGuire (Doug) and Maureen Kuty (Tom). She was the grandmother of Luis Robert Maza, Elaine Maza, Brendan and Briana Kuty, Francine Harkes and Francis Puleo as well as her six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Leonard Tully (Patricia), sister-in-law Roseann Tully, seven nieces, five nephews and many great nieces and nephew as well as many dear and loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband Robert R. Rainey Jr., brothers John Tully and Patrick Tully and her daughter, Judith Puleo.
Visitation will be at the Wilfred Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, on Tuesday November 4, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday November 5, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny, NJ. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery following the funeral service.
