Jose Manuel Rodriguez Arias, 68 of Kearny passed away on July 16, 2025.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Jose at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Friday July 18 from 5-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Church in Kearny on Saturday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Ourense, Spain, Jose immigrated to Newark in the 1980s and settled in Kearny over 30 years ago. He was a hardworking and dedicated longshoreman for APM Terminals with Local #1235 for almost 28 years. Jose found joy in life's simple pleasures like tending to his garden, cooking and baking. He most treasured time spent with his dear grandchildren.
The devoted son of the late Josefina Arias, Jose was the beloved husband of Esperanza; loving father of Carmen Rodriguez Smith and her husband Thomas, and cherished grandfather of Sofia and Lucia. He was the caring brother of Mari Carmen Rodriguez and her husband Pepe Macias, and is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
